LastPass - the last password you will ever need

How many passwords do you have? I would say probably fifty or more. I cringe at thinking how many of us reuse the same password over and over.  Do you get annoyed when a site asks you to change your password and requires you to add capitals, symbols, and numbers?  While we can use Chrome to save passwords, I would recommend using something like LastPass .  I just got a new phone and I can't tell you how many apps I had to add my username and password to. It would have been a pain but I just installed LastPass the rest was wicked easy. Every summer we need to get our laptops reimaged. I don't have to worry about logging into any site, I just add the LastPass extension and the magic takes over.  Check the video below to understand how it works. Quick Overview

How I use YouTube

We have all used YouTube to search for countless things. This weekend I searched for replacing headlights, weed eaters and Homer Simpson. All of these gave me exactly what I needed, the only time YouTube kinda fails is when I am searching for a how-to of some newish technology. Did you ever notice when you search YouTube it will surface so many old videos? When dealing with tech you need videos in the past few weeks, not things months old. I stumbled upon this tiny little button and it has radically changed my search results. I was searching for a few videos about LastPass but check out how old the first results are! Have you seen the Filter button right under the search bar? I click that and usually pick This month and my results are much more usable.  Note: the filter button won't show up until you search for something.

How podcasts changed my life.

Many years ago I was working part time in the Apple mini store in the Galleria. That place is long gone replace by the huge store they have now. Back in those days all we had were iPods, these thick single use devices that only could play music. Some customer of mine mentioned these things called podcasts, he explained them as radio shows but much cooler. The downside is you needed special software to download the episodes, then transfer to iTune and then load to your iPod. While it sounds like an easy process it often failed. I was hooked. I listened to Earth Core, a sci fi novel which featured one chapter per week. Back in 2005 this was so cutting edge. Fast forward many years later and podcasts are as common as a first grader with the latest iPhone. Listening to these shows is super easy, all you need is Spotify or just a web connection. I know you could use the podcast app on your iOS devices as well but this post will shows you how to listen on any device. Finding podca

OneNote - Swiss Army Knife of Apps

OneNote is kinda like the swiss army knife of apps, it does so many things. One of the best features is it works on Chromebooks, iPads, laptops and mobile devices. OneNote is a free app/site that allows you to take notes and organize them so you can access them quickly. While a paper notebook is awesome, OneNote enables you to add videos, files, pictures and audio to enhance your notes. I do like using the stylus to take notes at times when the keyboard just gets in the way. To access OneNote, visit office.com and click sign in. Your login is your full school email but the password is the one you use to log into the computer. Do not use your email password, it won't work. In this post we will show you some of the basics to getting started using OneNote. While it is an app that works on the Chromebook, the web version is what I recommend at this time.
