Experiments + Video = Amazing

This youtube channel has over 100 middle school science experiments ready to view.  He also has produced a blog mirrors what he publishes to youtube. You don't teach middle school science?  What about doing some of these fun activities at home with your kids? Take a look below and tell us what you think. SODA CAN DENSITY DISCREPANCY Can someone explain this to me?  The very end of the video leaves me with more questions than answer.  Seriously.  Why did those two cans float?

Summer + Edmodo = ?

Here are 8 ways to use Edmodo in the summer with your students.  Check out the link for more information. Here is my take on some of these options. 2.  A summer book club - This seems like a pretty easy way to get your kids reading and thinking about what they have read. 3. This could link right into number two.  Study specific concepts over the summer and come in ready to build on what they learned over the break. 5.  The science experiments they could do over the summer!  Documenting and recording what they were learning using the scientific method would improve many areas within the curriculum. Read the whole post and let us know what you think. I know... not all kids ________ (fill in the blank).   but what if.... What if a portion of your class participated? What if you spent 10 minutes a day and could reach your future students? Would that make a difference?

QR Codes - The Hidden 350

Did you know that a QR (Quick Response) code contains up to 350 times more information that a traditional bar code?  What can we use QR codes for? Interactive Displays The display could be just about anything depending on what you might teach. Example : a display of the human skeleton and QR codes that label key parts.  Each code will then take a student to a video/page to further explain what they are looking at.  This could also be a map and the codes link to information about certain battles or capitals. Sound like a lot of extra work?  It could also link to the resources you are already using in class.  Links to videos and the moodle are a simple way to start. Promote Books and Meet the Author The codes could be posted anywhere within a building or in a book.  The QR would link to pages created by the students or the author. Math Link to solutions or videos that describe the process.  A simple way to do this is by using what is on youtube or Khan Academy .  (That

A Lindbergh 1st!!!! Woo Hoo!

Thank you to Becky Joy who participated in Lindbergh's 1st Sametime chat room today.  Earlier in the day Becky had called me needing support with a PowerPoint presentation.  I was able to give her the link to my "online office" and she logged in to Sametime.  I then shared my screen with her, and she was able to share her screen with me.  This was AWESOME because I could see exactly what she was doing and what error was appearing.  Mariano and I were able to quickly help her to solve her issues virtually.   This great tool is going to revolutionize the way we support you...More to come on how the LiNC team will be using Sametime to support your technology needs.

Art in QR Codes

Mr. George took QR codes to an whole new level.  Scan to see where it takes you...
