Select-to-Speak - Chromebook!

 Microsoft provides a great tool inside of Canvas called Immersive Reader. While it can read a lot, it can't see into quizzes.

If you are using a Chromebook there is a built-in option you can enable that will allow you to select text and whatever is inside the box it will read out loud.

To enable this feature, follow these steps.

Start by clicking on the clock in the lower right corner.

Click the gear icon.

1. Click Advanced.
2. Click Accessibility.


Toggle Always show accessibility options in the system menu from gray to green.


Return to the main screen.
Click the clock in the lower right corner.
Click Accessibility.

1. Click Select-to-Speak.

2. You will know it is enabled when the green check appears.

1. Click the small icon near the Sign Out button.
2. Click to draw a box around the text you want read out loud.
3. Click the small icon by the sign out button to begin reading.

So I have a PDF and I need to edit it. Here is one method that works pretty well for me. Open Word. Click File .  1. Click Open . 2. Click Browse . 3. Find the PDF you want to annotate. 4. Click Open . Click OK when you see this box. Bam! Your PDF now opens in Word. Note: you maybe have to click Enable Editing at the top of the screen. Finished editing and want to turn it back into a PDF? Click File . 1. Click Save As . 2. Click This PC . 3. Pick a location. I usually save things to my desktop. 4. Click Save as type - and choose PDF. 5. Click Save .
