This post was created to help support an upcoming lesson for an English 3 class. This is blog 2 of 3 in this series.
One fun way might be to use a web app called Slido.
The biggest suggestions we can give to the English 3 students is to make sure the questions and polls you use during your presentation are meaningful and add to the conversation.
Getting Started
Visit Sli.do and sign up by clicking the button in the upper right side.
Next Steps
1. Create event.
2. Name the event.
3. Create.
You are then presented with either crowdsourcing questions or running a live poll. Not sure what either of these mean? Just watch the tutorial video listened in each section.
I chose the live poll for this post.
Running a live poll requires you to select the type you think would best fit your speech and audience. The tutorial video will help you decide which type to pick. I choose multiple choice.
You have seen a million multiple choice questions in your life, you know what to do here.
One tiny bit of advice, make sure asking the question will help you engage the audience on a new level. Just asking the question and doing nothing with the data is just bad practice.
You will need to click the play button to make the poll live. If you do not, the audience will not have the opportunity to answer.
1. There will be an event code at the top of your screen. This is what your participants will need to enter to access your poll. Have them pull up sli.do to begin.
2. You will see live results as people answer.
3. Toggle between different views.
Participant View
These are screenshots of what an audience member will see.
Participants will need to toggle to Polls located at the top of the screen.
All they will need to do is click and submit.
It is strongly recommended to have all participants use their real names when submitting their answers.
