5 Minutes on Twitter

Here are two things I learned from twitter in five minutes. Using an iPad in a Grade One Classroom - this post talks about specific apps and how they were organized.  It was interesting to read how certain apps were used. 50 Little-Know Ways Google Docs Can Help in Education - The title says it all. Some of these I knew about but others really have me thinking of new possibilities. What have you learned from social media today?

What is a hashtag? There is one hashtag that should start following right away.  School is upon us and this one tiny tag will provide lots of great information. #edchat This page will start explain how the chat topics are picked and the transcripts of past chats.  I have found many people to chat with and gained a wealth of knowledge during each session. Just follow #edchat on twitter to see the live feed.

Listening Center Ideas

Use an old cassette case as a storage case for headphones.   From Real Simple. Check out this 5-way splitter to use with an iPod or iPad.  Great tool for when students are listening to an audio book.  Check out this Belkin splitter on amazon.com. Take a look what this great site can do for your students.  Creating one of these videos is 98% easier than editing a PowerPoint.  Not creating a PowerPoint but editing one.  It is that easy. I don't even know where to start.  I had no idea that post-it notes where this amazing.  There are over 200 innovative ideas on using these notes in the classroom. Check out this site for all the ideas.  There are ideas for just about everyone.
